De-Stress Your Brain By Lubricating It

Your brain is a fantastic engineering marvel that can help you in many ways, but it requires not being overwhelmed by stress. Not being able to sleep, depression, daily fatigue, and drug dependence are characteristics of people under stress.

When you are under a lot of stress, your body secretes high levels of the hormone cortisol, which will decrease your brain function, suppress your immune system, affect your heart and blood glucose levels. The consumption of healthy fats can suppress the production of the stress hormone cortisol.

One of the best ways to de-stress your brain is to add healthy fats like extra-virgin olive oil. As you may be aware, your brain is 60% fat and is hungry to acquire healthy fats every day. Think of the brain as a powerful engine that needs top-quality oils to perform at a high level.

Recent research revealed that ingestion of at least one tablespoon of Extra-virgin olive oil could have a decreased effect in lowering stress levels even two hours after you consumed it.

In other words, if you want a lower level of stress in your life, olive oil should be part of your nutrition plan. Also, avoiding inflammatory foods like eating refined sugars and junk foods should be part of your routine.

What is The Easiest Way to Add Extra-virgin Olive Oil To Your Diet?

  • Add it to your morning smoothie with fruits and vegetables. It is best to measure your daily consumption of olive oil.

  • Use it with salads or over foods. This way is more challenging to actually know the exact amount of olive oil consumed during the day.

What is the Dose?

  • The average daily consumption of olive oil in people doing the most well-researched diet, which is the Mediterranean Diet, is around at least 3 to four tablespoons per day.

So, De-stress your brain and keep it well lubricated with healthy oils like extra-virgin olive oil.
